Ratcliffe has a master plan for Man Utd, wonderkid could be the face of the new project

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is aiming to hand a new long-term contract to Manchester United wonderkid Kobbie Mainoo by this summer.

The 18-year-old has been a revelation for United since his full league debut in November last year. He has impressed in almost every game.

His ball control, dribbling and ability to score key goals have already made him a fan favourite. United want him as one of the faces of their new project, as per Fabrizio Romano.

This shows that the new management has a master plan. The onus will be on building a young squad for long-term success.

Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund have already become mainstays in the first team under Erik ten Hag.

Amad Diallo has yet to become a regular starter amid injuries, but he did score the vital FA Cup quarter-final winner against Liverpool last month.

Another highly-rated player is Willy Kambwala. He has been called into action in central defence in recent encounters amid the injury crisis.

The 19-year-old’s current deal expires in 2025, and United will look to secure his future this summer.

Ten Hag has a good track record of developing emerging talents into potential world-beaters from his successful four-year spell at Ajax.

He needs the backing from Ratcliffe to turn around the club’s current fortunes.

The hierarchy must offload several underperforming senior stars this summer and bring in younger players with room for improvement.
