Big injury boost for Man Utd with key defender expected to face Coventry City

Manchester United have been handed a timely boost with Harry Maguire expected to be fit for the FA Cup semi-final against Coventry City this weekend.

The England international was spotted clutching his thigh against Bournemouth last weekend. He was seen in conversation with the physio and club doctor.

Despite this, the centre-back was able to continue for the full 90 minutes much to the manager’s relief.

Maguire was not spotted in Tuesday’s training session, but Manchester Evening News claim that it was only a precaution and he is expected to be fit for Sunday.

United handed big defensive boost for FA Cup semi-final

The Red Devils are currently without Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans with respective injuries.

Club graduate Willy Kambwala has started alongside Maguire in the last two games. He was solid versus Liverpool and earned praise from Rio Ferdinand.

However, the youngster had a game to forget at the Vitality Stadium. His slip gifted Dominic Solanke with the opportunity to fire his shot into the back of the net.

Kambwala will be aiming to make amends alongside Maguire, who has been a leader at the back.

There was much criticism over his decision to stay earlier this campaign, but the 31-year-old has fared well for United whenever Erik ten Hag has selected him.

Antony should also be back in the squad after missing the trip to Bournemouth due to an undefined injury.

United are clear favourites to beat Coventry. They will face Chelsea or Manchester City in the final next month if they win.
