Torino have been urged to keep Manchester United target Raoul Bellanova, who is attracting plenty of interest from Premier League clubs ahead of the summer transfer window (h/t TuttoMercatoWeb).
Despite inconsistent results on the pitch, Torino have unearthed a gem in the young right-back, whose impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed.
Torino will undoubtedly face a fight to retain his services, especially if they don’t clinch a European spot, and United must move swiftly to snap him up.
Bellanova would be an ideal replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka
Diogo Dalot has already solidified his place as United’s first choice right back with Aaron Wan-Bissaka as his deputy, but the latter could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer.
Wan-Bissaka has missed 21 games for United in all competitions with multiple injuries, and his ordeal could force the club to cut him loose as he approaches the final year of his contract.
Bellanova could be the ideal replacement for the Englishman. He is an inventive wing-back and creative dribbler, whose offensive contributions haven’t come at the expense of his primary defensive duties.
The 23-year-old has been one of the best full-backs in the Italian top flight this term, although he has predominantly operated from the wing-back role.
He has contributed a goal and six assists to Torino’s European push this season and consistently delivers outstanding performances for Ivan Juric’s side.
The Italian has won an impressive 63% of his ground duels. While he’s not as formidable in the air, he has still managed a respectable 50% success rate in aerial battles.
He averages 3.6 ball recoveries and nearly a tackle per game and has also created eight big chances this season, just two fewer than Dalot and Wan-Bissaka’s output combined.
Bellanova is valued at €10 million by Transfermarkt. Torino will likely demand more, but he still represents a cut-price replacement for Wan-Bissaka and a solid deputy to Dalot.
