Fernandes star was Manchester United’s best player vs Bournemouth

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes was the standout performer during the 2-2 Premier League draw against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Red Devils have been in a poor run of form since the international break and extended their winless run to four games after another disappointing display.

The Cherries were by far the dominant side in the final third at the Vitality Stadium, but United salvaged a point after a goal in either half from Fernandes.

The Portuguese put United level at 1-1 with a sublime volley from close range. He repeated the trick in the second half, converting a penalty in the 65th minute.

Fernandes managed 94 touches with a passing accuracy of 81 percent during the game. He completed 11 long balls, winning seven duels and three tackles.

The 64-cap international was guilty of losing possession on multiple occasions, but he made up for the same with another solid attacking performance for the Red Devils.

The 29-year-old has not been at his best this term compared to previous seasons, but he has continued to contribute with 12 goals and nine assists from 42 appearances.

Five of those goals have come from his previous six outings and the fans will be hoping he can continue his scoring form in the FA Cup semi-final next weekend.

United will start as favourites against Championship side Coventry City, but the Sky Blues can’t be underestimated, having stunned Wolverhampton Wanderers in the last round.

They were brilliant with their counter-attacking runs and United must be wary as they have been defensively vulnerable for most of the campaign amid their injury crisis.
