Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee is ‘tempting’ Arsenal to make an approach amid his performances this season, according to Tuttosport.
The Dutchman has been a key player for Bologna this term, registering 11 goals and six assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.
The Gunners have been linked with him on multiple occasions, and Tuttosport say he is ‘tempting’ them with the progress he has made this season.
Bayern Munich currently have the option to re-sign Zirkzee for €40 million, but the striker is reportedly reluctant to consider a return to Germany.
This could benefit other interested clubs and it is mentioned that Arsenal, AC Milan and Juventus may battle for his signature this summer.
Zirkzee would not be a good acquisition for Arsenal
The Dutchman has made good progress, but it is debatable whether he is the ideal player to lead the line for the Gunners in the Premier League.
Zirkzee is still far from a complete centre-forward. He has impressed with his finishing and link-up play in the final third, but has been inconsistent.
Arsenal already have Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, who have gone through the same pattern.
They need someone who can guarantee goals in almost every game. Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres could be a good solution amid his scintillating form.
The Swede has netted a staggering 36 goals and provided 15 assists from just 43 games this term.
He currently has a release clause worth €100m in his deal, but it has been reported that Sporting could be willing to lower their demands this summer.
If Arsenal are looking for a Premier League striker, Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak would be an ideal fit, but he won’t come on the cheap.
Arsenal should be targeting such striker options over Zirkzee, who needs more time at the highest level to develop into a consistent goalscorer.
With Bologna eyeing close to €70m for his services, Arsenal should avoid a move for him.
