Chelsea trio join long injury list ahead of Premier League clash with Everton

Chelsea have struggled with injuries this season, and there seems to be no letting up with Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi joining several teammates on the treatment table.

The Blues also announced that Raheem Sterling is dealing with an illness and will likely miss their upcoming match against Everton on Monday.

Fernandez and Disasi started the disappointing 2-2 draw with Sheffield United last weekend with Sterling on the bench as Chelsea drew against relegation contenders for the second week in a row.

Chelsea can go three for three against relegation strugglers on Monday when they face a spirited Everton side reeling from another two-point deduction.

The Blues are unbeaten in 28 home games against Everton at Stamford Bridge, but this match looks primed for Chelsea to drop more points.

Fernandez will leave a gaping creative hole in midfield, while Disasi is a miss at the back. Sterling has been out of sorts for some time, but the time off will allow him to recuperate and recover some form.

However, there is some good news for Chelsea, with vice-captain Ben Chilwell back in partial training after missing the last three games following his return from international duty.

Malo Gusto is also not on the injury list after surprisingly missing the Sheffield United game.

Robert Sanchez, Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Romeo Lavia, Christopher Nkunku and Lesley Ugochukwu remain sidelined.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino will be pining for a win to keep the team within touching distance of European qualification after missing two glorious chances to break into seventh position.

The Blues are currently ninth in the table and must improve their current form if they want to clinch European football.
