Carlo Ancelotti signs new Real Madrid contract until 2026

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

Ancelotti, whose previous deal was set to expire next summer, had been linked with the Brazil national team job amid the uncertainty surrounding his Madrid stay at the time.

However, the Italian tactician has now committed his long-term future to Madrid and is tied down to the La Liga giants until 2026.

“Real Madrid CF and Carlo Ancelotti have agreed to extend our coach’s contract until June 30, 2026,” a statement on Madrid’s official website read.

Madrid’s decision to retain Ancelotti is hardly unsurprising given the success he has delivered in his time at the club across two spells spanning five years.

Ancelotti has won every possible trophy for his current employers and a total of 10 – the third-most in history behind Miguel Munoz (14) and Zinedine Zidane (11).

Despite dealing with several injury problems, Ancelotti is also on course to add more silverware this term.

He has guided Madrid to the top of the La Liga table, albeit only on goal difference, as they sit level on points with Girona just shy of the midway point of the season.

Since a 3-1 defeat to city rivals Atletico Madrid in September, Los Blancos are without defeat in their subsequent 17 matches across all competitions.

Only Bayer Leverkusen boast a longer unbeaten run in Europe’s top-five leagues.

Ancelotti and Madrid closed out 2023 with three wins on the bounce and will be keen to make a positive start to the new year when Real Mallorca visit the Santiago Bernabeu on January 3.
