Chelsea contact Michel as they look to replace Mauricio Pochettino

Chelsea have reportedly made contact with Girona manager Michel as they look to replace Mauricio Pochettino this summer.

The 48-year-old has worked wonders since joining the Spanish outfit in 2021.

He achieved promotion in his first season before guiding Girona to a 10th-place finish in 2022-23.

Michel and his team have exceeded expectations this term, as they are in the running for a Champions League finish.

They have lost three of their last five La Liga matches but are still second behind Real Madrid with 62 points.

Michel’s work hasn’t gone unnoticed as he has been linked with a move to Barcelona, with Xavi set to part ways with the club at the end of the season.

However, in the latest Chelsea news headlines, the Blues have also reportedly contacted Michel about becoming their next manager.

Diario AS claim that Chelsea officials travelled to Northern Catalonia to speak with Michel about his future and make him a serious offer.

The Blues appointed Mauricio Pochettino last summer, but he has failed to revive the club’s fortunes.

They are languishing in 11th place in the Premier League with just 36 points from 36 matches.

The Blues had a brilliant opportunity to win silverware this season after making it to the final of the League Cup.

But they lost to Liverpool in the final at Wembley Stadium after Virgil van Dijk scored the winning goal in extra-time.
