Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to part ways with Giovani Lo Celso for £17million, according to The Sun.
This is slightly higher than the £15.3m that the Yellow Submarine are reportedly willing to offer, along with bonuses and a percentage of proceeds from the player’s future sale.
However, both clubs are expected to reach common ground over a deal ahead of the start of the upcoming transfer window.
Since joining from Real Betis two years ago, Lo Celso has failed to nail down a starting berth in North London under three different managers since the departure of Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine is currently on loan at Villareal and his performances have left Unai Emery impressed, leading to talks of a permanent move this summer.
He recently issued an update on his future via Instagram after what has been been a productive second half of the campaign.
“Closing another season… Qualifying for Europe in a very difficult stadium ✅ Champions League semis being very close to the goal… Thanks for the support of the usual! Now to think about what’s to come.”
Lo Celso was named man of the match in his side’s 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich last month en route to a Champions League semi-final run which Liverpool eventually ended.
Having led the North Londoners back into Europe’s premier club competition, Antonio Conte is preparing for a squad revamp with a lot of arrivals and departures expected.
Lo Celso is one of the names on the chopping block as Fabrizio Romano claimed that Spurs are prepared to cut their losses on the midfielder despite him being under contract until 2025.
At this point, a long-term switch to Villareal looks to be the best option for all the parties involved and Lo Celso will be keen to continue his resurgence at Estadio de la Cerámica.
