Cristiano Ronaldo makes obscene gesture at rival supporters chanting ‘Messi’

Cristiano Ronaldo is facing criticism after he made an obscene gesture at Al-Shabab fans on Sunday.

The 39-year-old scored the opening goal from the penalty spot after 21 minutes before Yannick Carrasco levelled the scores on the stroke of half-time at Prince Khalid bin Sultan Stadium.

Talisca restored their advantage within a minute of the restart and netted another late goal to confirm Al-Nassr’s victory after Carlos’ 67th minute equaliser.

After the final whistle, Ronaldo was seen cupping his ear before gesturing around his crotch at Al-Shabab supporters chanting Lionel Messi’s name.

The incident was not captured by the television cameras, but social media videos show him making the lewd gesture.

There has not been any official response, but local media said the National Football Federation (SAFF) had launched an investigation into the matter, per the Guardian

This is not the first time Ronaldo has faced criticism for his behaviour with fans.

The Portuguese star appeared to grab his genitals while on his way to the dugout after their 2-0 loss against Al-Hilal in April.

He also sparked outrage after rubbing an Al-Hilal scarf on his crotch before throwing it back as he walked towards the tunnel after their 2-0 defeat in the Riyadh Season Cup final earlier this month.

Ronaldo, who has won five Ballon d’Or awards, has been in excellent form this season, scoring 28 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions.

But he could face punishment from the governing body for his unsavoury antics.
