Sir Jim Ratcliffe expects to officially complete Man Utd takeover by early February

Manchester United played out a thrilling 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford in front of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The British billionaire was spotted at Old Trafford for a game for the first time since agreeing to buy a 25 percent stake in the Premier League outfit.

Ratcliffe spoke publicly for the first time since the announcement of the deal.

He told the reporters that he expects his minority takeover to be ratified by next month.

He said (via The Guardian): “I think it’s three or four weeks. Early February. We hope they don’t find anything dodgy in our CV!”

He also said that he ‘can’t comment’ about his influence on the January transfer window as the deal has yet to be approved by the authorities.

Ratcliffe is a boyhood Man United supporter and admitted that buying a stake at the Red Devils is the most exciting deal of his career.

He said: “I have done a few exciting things, but this caps it all. There’s no question about that.”

Man United fans will have high hopes for Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Ratcliffe sat beside Sir Alex Ferguson in the directors’ box as United failed to beat Spurs at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils went toe-to-toe with Tottenham in the first half but struggled to replicate the same performance after the break.

Ange Postecoglou’s side played better football and dominated possession.

Immediately after Rasmus Hojlund’s opener, United fans started chanting against the Glazers.

The American owners are unpopular figures in Manchester. Fans will hope that Ratcliffe does not follow their path.

INEOS and Ratcliffe will be expected to bring back the glory days the club enjoyed under Ferguson.

Heavy investment is required in the squad and the training facilities.

Several structural elements must be amended to cultivate the right culture at United.
