Jadon Sancho joins Borussia Dortmund on loan from Man United

Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho has returned to Borussia Dortmund on a short-term loan

Sancho played for BVB between 2017 and 2021 before securing a big-money move to United.

The 23-year-old returns to Germany after a torrid time in Manchester that saw him fall out with manager Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag had questioned Sancho’s work ethic and performance, and the England international retorted via a controversial social media post.

Sancho eventually took down the post but refused to apologise to Ten Hag. The club responded by banishing him from first-team activities.

The Manchester City academy graduate has been away from the first team as they have toiled in the Premier League, Champions League and domestic cups.

RB Leipzig were linked with the wide man, but Borussia Dortmund emerged as a viable option, and he chose a move back to Signal Iduna Park.

He will add firepower to a team struggling domestically. The Schwarz Gelben are in fifth place when many people expected them to be challenging for the title.

The top brass have moved to quickly bolster their forward line with Sancho ahead of the second half of the season.

The Cambebrwell-born star used to be one of the most exciting playmakers at Dortmund, bagging 50 goals and 67 assists in 137 appearances.

Sancho will hope that a return to old surroundings can help him return to top form after dropping off drastically at United.

The loan to BVB is a win for all parties as Dortmund will cover all his wages while he gets a move back to a known environment where he is appreciated and can boost his value ahead of a sale this summer.

BVB are reportedly preparing for life without Marco Reus, and Sancho could be his permanent replacement.

Given their need to comply with Financial Fair Play rules, it is unclear whether Man United will sign a replacement for Sancho.
