777 bail Everton out with fresh £40m cash injection

Potential future Everton owners 777 Partners have injected an additional £40 million into the club.

The Athletic reports that while awaiting approval from the Premier League for the proposed takeover, the United States investment firm provided a substantial loan in September, bringing their total financial contribution to over £142m.

Everton will be unable to invest the latest cash injection into their January transfer plans. The funds will be allocated towards ongoing stadium expenses and working capital.

The new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, set to open in the 2025/26 season, is estimated to cost £760m, according to current majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri.

Moshiri agreed with a Miami-based group for the acquisition of his 94.1% shares in the Premier League club last September.

Everton have been plunged into a perilous situation, with the club handed a 10-point deduction for breaching the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

The subject has become a hot topic in the footballing world, with many people slamming the Premier League for their outrageous treatment of the Toffees, who have also appealed the initial decision.

Despite their harsh treatment, Everton have kept their noses out of the bottom three, sitting 17th in the Premier League, one point ahead of Luton Town who have a game in hand.

But for their ten-point hit, Sean Dyche’s side would be two points behind mid-table Chelsea, making a push for their first top-half finish since the 2020/21 campaign.

Their financial situation would heavily restrict the Toffees from making any significant moves to reinforce the squad in the January transfer window unless they sell one of their prized assets.

Amadou Onana has turned the heads of several top clubs in the Premier League, and reports suggest Arsenal are front-runners in the race to secure his signature.

However, the Merseyside club are unlikely to sanction a mid-season exit for one of their key players while they battle relegation and the threat of a further point deduction.
