Messi’s Inter Miami to play Ronaldo’s Al Nassr in February

Inter Miami have confirmed they will visit Saudi Arabia during the 2024 pre-season to take part in the Riyadh Season Cup.

The Herons will face Al-Hilal at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh on January 29 before taking on Al-Nassr at the same venue on February 1.

The MLS club’s pre-season tour will see Lionel Messi in action with his greatest rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who signed for Al-Nassr in December 2022.

“This is another major opportunity to create lasting relationships with passionate fans,” said Inter Miami chief business officer Xavier Asensi.

“We are excited to connect with new supporters in Saudi Arabia, and also hope people all over the world will be tuning in to see a pair of dream matches like these.”

Messi and Ronaldo are regarded as two of the greatest footballers in history.

They dominated football for over a decade, winning all the Ballon d’Or awards between them from 2008 to 2017.

Their legendary rivalry ended when they left Europe, with Messi now playing in the Major League Soccer and Ronaldo showcasing his skills in the Saudi Pro League.

However, fans will be thrilled to know that the duo could meet again in the Riyadh Season Cup next year.

The last time Messi and Ronaldo faced each other on the field was in a friendly between Saudi Pro League All-Stars and Paris Saint-Germain in January.

The Portugal international had scored a brace while the former Barcelona star was also on target, but PSG won the game by 5-4.

The two greatest rivals have met each other 35 times in their careers, with Messi winning 16 games and Ronaldo winning 10.

The Argentine has recorded 21 goals and 12 assists in those 35 encounters, while Ronaldo has bagged 20 goals and one assist.
