Pascal Struijk pens new deal with Leeds United

Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk has put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2027.

Since moving to Elland Road in January 2018, Struijk has made 79 appearances across all competitions for Leeds.

The 23-year-old has also featured in all but one of his side’s 14 Premier League games this term having established himself as an undisputed first-team regular under Jesse Marsch.

While he naturally operates in the heart of the defence, Struijk has been primarily deployed as a left-back but has continued to perform impressively for the Lilywhites.

Consequently, it is no surprise to see Leeds hand a new contract to Struijk, who is delighted to have extended his stay in Yorkshire.

“It feels really good [to have signed a new contract],” Struijk was quoted saying by Leeds’ official website.

“I’ve been at the club for a while now and I’m really happy to extend my journey – the journey so far for me has been really good – I think I’ve grown as a person and as a player.

“I came here with one target and that was to become the best version of myself and to play in the Premier League because it is the best league in the world.

“The more I can add to my package as a player, the better I can become. I want to get better every day by working hard in training and seeing how much I can improve.

“The whole group of players are a really good group. I come into training every day with a smile, so it was a really easy decision for me to extend my contract because I’m so happy here.”

Leeds stepped up their preparations for the second part of the current campaign with a friendly against Real Sociedad last Friday.

Struijk found the back of the net in a 2-1 victory and has been named in the starting XI for tonight’s clash against Monaco.
