Sean Dyche delivers injury update on Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Everton manager Sean Dyche is optimistic of having Dominic Calvert-Lewin available for Saturday’s crunch clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Having struggled with several injuries this season, Calvert-Lewin has racked up just 16 outings appearances.

The striker was hauled off at half-time in Everton’s 3-0 defeat against Manchester City at Goodison Park last time out, but his manager has now given a positive update regarding his fitness status.

“Hopefully, he [Calvert Lewin] can play,” Dyche said, as relayed by The Athletic.

“He has had a few down days and it’s looking more promising he will be with us again tomorrow for training.

“He has come through the last few days well.”

While Calvert-Lewin could be back in action this weekend, Dyche is set to be without Vitaliy Mykolenko, who has featured in all but two of his side’s 36 matches.

However, the Ukrainian defender could be back for the season-finale against Bournemouth on May 28.

“I doubt he [Mykolenko] will be right for this one – he has got a chance for the next one,” Dyche added.

“It’s a risk-and-reward scenario and he hasn’t trained so I doubt he will make this one.”

With Everton currently 17th in the Premier League table, the Toffees will be anxiously looking over their shoulders.

Having picked up 32 points, they currently sit just one point ahead of Leeds United and two clear of Leicester City in what is set to be a frenetic battle for survival heading into the final two matches of the campaign.

If results elsewhere go their way, a win against Wolves at Molineux would see Everton preserve their top-flight status.

This would conclude the Farhad Moshiri era on a positive note ahead of a proposed American takeover.
