Ange Postecoglou named Barclays Manager of the Month for August

Ange Postecoglou has won the Barclays Manager of the Month award for August 2023

This accolade is a fitting tribute to the Australian impact since his arrival at Tottenham Hotspur during the summer.

The 58-year-old has engineered a spectacular transformation in the team’s style of play, catapulting Spurs to newfound heights in several attacking metrics.

This shift in performance is even more astounding, considering the team’s struggles last season.

Tottenham are unbeaten under Postecoglou’s leadership, starting his tenure with a thrilling 2-2 draw against Brentford before consecutive 2-0 victories over Manchester United and Bournemouth.

These results are a testament to the manager’s tactical imprint and impact.

Postecoglou’s recognition as Manager of the Month also marks a historic moment for Australian football.

He becomes the second Australian ever to clinch a monthly award in the Premier League, following in the footsteps of Mark Schwarzer, who earned the EA SPORTS Player of the Month honour with Fulham in February 2010.

The competition for the prestigious award was fierce, with Postecoglou ousting Mikel Arteta, Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp and David Moyes.

The decision was made by combining votes from the public with those of a panel of football experts.

It was a double celebration for Tottenham as English international playmaker James Maddison was named EA SPORTS Player of the Month for August

He arrived at Tottenham from Leicester City this summer for £40 million and has been excellent.

Maddison already boasts a joint-league high of three-goal involvements, and his overall performances have been stellar.

With the club’s good form and momentum on their side, both Postecoglou and Maddison will hope to continue their impressive run as they prepare to face Sheffield United this weekend.
