EA Sports have kicked off the post-FIFA era by revealing the top-rated men’s and women’s players included in the latest edition of their flagship football game, FC 24.
It is the first video game title from Electronic Arts since dissolving their long-standing relationship with their estranged partners, and its inaugural instalment is expected to debut on September 29.
EA Sports have overhauled their rating system, but it bears some similarities with the final game of the FIFA era, with the highest-ranked player standing at 91.
Manchester City striker and face of FC 24, Erling Braut Haaland, is one of four players rated 91 in the highly anticipated game, alongside fellow Ballon d’Or nominees Kylian Mbappe and Kevin De Bruyne.
With women’s players set to be included in Ultimate Team for the first time in the franchise’s history, Barcelona women’s forward Alexia Putellas earns a spot amongst the top four highest-rated players on FC 24.
Having previously dominated the EA Sports franchise ratings for many years, both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have seen their stats wane even further in the upcoming edition.
Messi, who steered Argentina to their third World Cup title, misses out on a place in the top five, while Ronaldo failed to make the opening 24-player list altogether.
