Ex-Chelsea defender John Terry set to join Saudi club Al-Shabab as manager

John Terry is reportedly very close to joining Saudi Pro League club Al-Shabab as manager. 

The 42-year-old is currently working as a consultant in the Chelsea academy, but the club will not stop him from moving to Saudi Arabia. 

The Sun claim Al-Shabab have reached a verbal agreement with the former England international, and he is poised to sign a contract of at least two years.  

Terry previously worked as an assistant manager at Aston Villa when Dean Smith was in charge. 

His three years at the Midlands club saw them securing promotion and consolidating their position in the Premier League. 

He reunited with Smith at Leicester City in April but failed to save the club from relegation.

The former England international returned to the Blues as a consultant in July, but he is now on the move again. 

Terry is widely regarded as one of the greatest Chelsea players of all time. 

During his 19 years at Stamford Bridge, he lifted five Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and five FA Cups. 

The former defender made over 700 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea, scoring 67 goals.

While he was an icon to Chelsea fans, off-field controversies damaged his reputation with the wider football community.
