Juventus duo Adrien Rabiot and Federico Chiesa are set for contract showdown talks with the Serie A heavyweights, reports TuttoMercatoWeb.
The Bianconeri are eager to tie two of their most important assets to longer-term contracts to avoid any complicated situations at the end of this season.
Rabiot came close to departing the Allianz Stadium on a permanent basis last summer after his contract with the Turin-based giants ran out.
Several high-profile European clubs were lining up to land his signature on a free transfer, including Manchester United, who were especially keen.
The Premier League giants negotiated with Rabiot’s representatives over a move to Old Trafford, but their demands threw a spanner into the works.
Juventus managed to convince Rabiot to remain at the club for at least one more year, but they now want to hand him an even longer deal to avoid another contract rigmarole this summer.
Rabiot, who joined Juventus on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, has been an integral player for Massimiliano Allegri’s side in the middle of the park.
The 28-year-old has started all three games for the Old Lady this season, contributing a goal, 1.7 key passes per 90 minutes and 3.3 tackles per match.
His numbers vindicate Allegri’s trust in the Frenchman, and the Italian manager is pushing for the club to retain Rabiot’s services for the foreseeable future.
Chiesa is also in line for a new deal following an electrifying start to the 2023/24 campaign from the Italy international forward.
The 25-year-old endured a tumultuous, injury-ridden campaign last term as he battled for form, confidence and consistency, leading to exit speculation.
German champions Bayern Munich, as well as several Premier League clubs, were on his heels, but none matched Juventus’ valuation of the former Fiorentina man.
However, he seems to have put his struggles behind him, netting twice in his opening three games of the season.
Chiesa’s contract with the Old Lady runs until 2025, but they do not want to be left in a tight spot at the end of the season, leading to talks of an extended deal.
Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is also set for an extended contract, with his current deal also expiring in 2025.
