Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing moves for Conor Gallagher and Douglas Luiz as potential replacements for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to the Daily Mail.
Hojbjerg is a transfer target for Atletico Madrid and is expected to complete a move to the Wanda Metropolitano in the coming weeks as he goes in search of Champions League football.
Tottenham are now searching for midfield reinforcements and will look to snap up Gallagher and Luiz from Chelsea and Aston Villa, respectively.
Gallagher is wanted by West Ham United in their quest to fill the void left by Declan Rice, while Brighton & Hove Albion have also been credited with an interest in the Englishman.
Having already sold Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek this summer, it remains to be seen if Chelsea will be willing to sanction another exit in the middle of the park.
However, that could change if the Blues are successful in their pursuit of Moises Caicedo, who has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
While Gallagher’s Chelsea contract is due to expire in 2025, Luiz’s deal at Aston Villa runs for a further 12 months after he signed an extension last summer amid interest from Arsenal at the time.
The Brazilian bagged six goals and six assists last term, and it is unlikely that Villa will want to part ways with their reigning Players’ Player of the Season, even with the arrival of Youri Tielemans as a free agent.
Leaving Villa for Spurs would also see Luiz pass up on the opportunity to play European football next season, and Tottenham may have to look elsewhere in their search for a new midfielder.
