Crystal Palace launch new bid for PSG striker Hugo Ekitike

Crystal Palace have renewed their interest in Paris Saint-Germain wantaway striker Hugo Ekitike, according to the Evening Standard.

The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the French capital this summer and could secure his departure before the deadline.

PSG tried to use the Frenchman as a makeweight in a bid to sign Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt, but he rejected the chance to move in the opposite direction.

Palace manager Roy Hodgson wants to add firepower to his front line for the 2023/24 campaign, and the club are keen on landing Ekitike’s signature.

They have already been rebuffed once, but with Kolo Muani set to become the latest name in their squad, they could be receptive to bids for Ekitike.

Palace have reached out to the Ligue 1 champions, formalising their interest in Ekitike with a season-long loan proposal.

The Eagles have also included a purchase option worth £26 million that could be activated at the end of the season.

PSG are yet to respond to the proposal, but there is cautious optimism that a deal can be struck before time runs out, with Palace now considered the front-runners.

West Ham are also interested in signing Ekitike but are yet to make a formal approach for the former Stade Reims man.

Ekitike impressed in pre-season for PSG but has only managed eight minutes of Ligue 1 football under Luis Enrique’s leadership.

He could struggle for playing time if he fails to secure a move away from PSG this summer, with Goncalo Ramos also at the club.

If Palace succeed in their bid for Ekitike, he will provide competition for Odsonne Edouard.
