Man Utd ‘consider’ loan deal for Tottenham outcast Reguilon

Manchester United are now seriously considering a move to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon, according to The Athletic.

United are in the market for a left-back before the close of the transfer window tomorrow after an injury crisis befell the Premier League club.

First-choice left-back Luke Shaw is out for an extended period, and back-up Tyrell Malacia has been out for a while and still hasn’t recovered.

Young Alvaro Fernandez is the only healthy left-back on United’s books right now, forcing right-back Diogo Dalot to deputise in their last match against Nottingham Forest.

United had a deal for Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella in the pipeline, but the Red Devils have doubts after he featured in their 2-1 win over AFC Wimbledon last night.

United have now turned to Reguilon, who is deemed surplus to requirements by Tottenham.

The Spaniard joined Spurs in 2020 from Real Madrid after an impressive loan spell with Sevilla.

However, after an impressive start to his Spurs career, it has gone downhill for him.

He went on loan to Atletico Madrid last season, but returning to his home nation did not do much good for him as he made only 12 appearances.

He returned to Spurs this summer, and new manager Ange Postecoglou does not fancy him. The club has put him up for sale, but there are no takers yet.

Old Trafford may be his next destination, with United now plotting a move for him before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.

United have also had a loan approach for Sofyan Amrabat knocked back. Fiorentina have rejected the offer, expecting a permanent approach from the Red Devils.

However, matters have taken a different twist with Nottingham Forest entering the race for the Moroccan midfielder, so the onus is on United to agree a deal with La Viola.
