Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad have Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate on their transfer radar, according to RMC Sport.
The Saudi Arabian club has been shopping in Europe all summer, snapping up Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Jota and Fabinho from European powerhouses.
They took Fabinho from Liverpool and reportedly have an eye on Mohammed Salah.
The Saudi Pro League champions are not through doing business with the Reds and want to return for Konate.
He initially put his name on the map at RB Leipzig before rising to prominence at Liverpool over the past two seasons.
Konate is a unit and uses his massive frame to good effect on the pitch to win duels against attackers.
He reportedly wants to stay at Anfield, but a big salary proposal may tempt him to move to the Middle East.
Al-Ittihad have turned to Konate after a rejection from fellow French international and OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo.
Todibo’s name has been in the rumour mill for weeks due to interest from Manchester United.
The Red Devils were considering a move for the former Barcelona defender when it looked like Harry Maguire would be leaving the club last week.
However, Maguire decided against the move to West Ham and United’s interest in Todibo cooled.
Todibo is a massive player who knows how to use his frame to outmuscle opposition.
However, while Todibo is not as dominant in his duels as Konate, he is stellar on the ball. He is adept at helping to set up attacks with his passing.
With Konate comfortable in Liverpool, it is unclear if Al-Ittihad will convince him to move.
The Reds have to try and fend off the Saudi Arabian club twice. It does not help that Liverpool’s transfer window closes on Friday while the Saudis can still do business until September 7.
