AC Milan submit improved offer for Mehdi Taremi ahead of deadline day

AC Milan have submitted an improved offer for Porto striker Mehdi Taremi as they aim to strike a deal in the final days of the transfer window, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Rossoneri have raised their bid to €15 million, which is still lower than Porto’s €25m valuation.

However, given the Iranian striker’s desire to move to San Siro, Milan are optimistically proceeding with the negotiations.

Taremi was initially on Milan’s wishlist earlier this summer, but they shelved the pursuit after signing Noah Okafor from RB Salzburg.

However, they have revived their interest in recent days as Stefano Pioli looks to add another centre-forward to the ranks.

Milan are awaiting a response from the Portuguese giants since Taremi falls under the non-Eu category, and it would take more effort than usual to register his signing.

Alternatively, the Italian giants are ready to move for the 31-year-old in January if the deal fails to materialise before transfer deadline day.

Taremi’s arrival will impact the future of Lorenzo Colombo, with Milan ready to loan out the Italian youngster to Monza.

Milan had been working on a potential deal for Paris Saint-Germain’s young centre-forward Hugo Ekitike before Eintracht Frankfurt jumped up the queue.

Taremi has a wealth of experience under his belt, especially in the Champions League, which will highly benefit Rossoneri.

The Iranian has proved himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Europe with his incredible consistency at Porto.

With Olivier Giroud in the twilight of his career, Taremi can help reduce the Frenchman’s workload and show everyone he can be his successor.

Milan have made a scintillating start to the new season with emphatic victories against Bologna and Torino.
