Fulham showing interest in Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi

Fulham have set their sights on Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi, according to the Daily Mail

Their interest appears to be fuelled by a desire to rejuvenate their attack following the departure of star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Serbian centre-forward made a £46 million move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal earlier this summer.

Iwobi’s potential move is gaining momentum as Everton’s line-up dynamics shift under manager Sean Dyche.

Iwobi sustained an injury during Everton’s dismal 4-0 defeat against Aston Villa, causing him to miss the subsequent 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

This misfortune coincides with Dyche’s move to fortify Everton’s flanks, signing Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison.

Iwobi could find himself deemed surplus to requirements, potentially paving the way for Fulham’s pursuit.

Both clubs will want to see any deal go through early as they grapple with contrasting fortunes.

Everton are languishing at the foot of the Premier League table, setting the stage for a high-stakes relegation showdown against newly-promoted Sheffield United this weekend.

Fulham have had a roller-coaster beginning to their Premier League campaign, clinching victory against Everton, only to falter against Brentford before sharing the spoils with Arsenal.

Iwobi’s role transformation since his move from Arsenal to Goodison Park has seen him adapt to a deeper position, yielding a respectable tally of nine goals and 16 assists across 140 appearances.

As the Nigerian midfielder emerges as a target for Fulham’s midfield revival, the Cottagers continue to tread carefully in the transfer market.

Calvin Bassey, Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore have been their only summer dealings, as they take a measured approach to squad reinforcement.
