Fulham agree deal for Sevilla attacker Lucas Ocampos

Premier League club Fulham have agreed a deal with Sevilla for Argentine forward Lucas Ocampos, according to The Telegraph.

The Cottagers are trying to bolster their attacking prowess for the new season and have turned to the former AS Monaco man.

The 29-year-old now stands at a crossroads where he will choose between Champions League football and a Premier League venture.

Fulham manager Marco Silva’s search for wide attacking options has culminated in a move for Ocampos.

The club also explored potential deals for Everton’s Demarai Gray and Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi this summer, but nothing materialised.

With terms agreed with Sevilla, the stage is set for Ocampos to sign for Fulham.

However, the verdict hinges upon the player’s own desires as he contemplates relinquishing the allure of Champions League action after tasting glory in Sevilla’s Europa League conquest last season.

Ocampos’ journey took an unexpected detour to Ajax on loan last season, but he struggled to make an impact at the Eredivisie club.

He returned to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium to help Sevilla to European success despite their forgettable domestic campaign.

Fulham recently signed Leicester City’s Timothy Castagne, while Swansea City’s Steven Benda has emerged as a priority target between the posts.

The departure of Aleksandar Mitrovic to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal means they need more attacking reinforcements.

Werder Bremen striker Niclas Fullkrug is their ideal candidate to replace Mitrovic, but the Bundesliga club are reluctant to part ways with the German.

Fulham’s ambitious sights have also turned to Everton’s Alex Iwobi, who could be available following new acquisitions by Toffees managerSean Dyche.

They also have Ajax left-back and Netherlands international Owen Wijndal on their radar.
