Eintracht Frankfurt have no intention of accepting Paris Saint-Germain’s latest proposal as they pursue a deal for Randal Kolo Muani.
Sky Germany correspondent Florian Plettenberg reports that PSG’s latest bid was worth around €80 million, but it has been deemed insufficient by the Bundesliga club.
Kolo Muani has been making the headlines since the start of the summer transfer window, and Frankfurt have stood their ground on his valuation – €100m or nothing.
PSG are currently the only club vying for his signature, but they have no intention of matching Frankfurt’s exorbitant asking price.
However, the French heavyweights could have an ace up their sleeves with Hugo Ekitike firmly on Frankfurt’s radar.
Ekitike is one of several options Frankfurt are considering as a possible replacement for Kolo Muani, and PSG could use their interest to their advantage.
While they have shown no desire to cough up Frankfurt’s demands, a potential player plus cash deal that would see Ekitike move in the opposite direction could be on the cards.
PSG only made his move permanent this summer following his arrival on an initial loan deal, but the 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Parc des Princes before the transfer window closes.
West Ham United and AC Milan have also expressed their interest in the Frenchman, but PSG’s interest in Kolo Muani gives Frankfurt the edge over their European counterparts.
PSG and Frankfurt remain in talks over a potential deal as both parties are trying to find common ground, with Kolo Muani reportedly pushing for a transfer.
The 24-year-old has already kicked off the 2023/24 Bundesliga season the same way he ended the previous campaign after scoring the only goal in Frankfurt’s 1-0 victory over Darmstadt on the opening weekend.
He was also on the scoresheet in the subsequent 1-1 draw against Levski Sofia in the Europa Conference League play-off first-leg clash.
However, his performance in last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Mainz was nothing to write home about, as he failed to register a single shot on target before being replaced in the 70th minute.
