Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has disclosed that new signing Rasmus Hojlund joined his first full training session this week.
The 20-year-old joined United from Atalanta this summer but is yet to make his debut for the club due to an injury he suffered in pre-season preparations with La Dea.
United needed a striker to lead their line this season and moved for the Danish international. Fans are anxious to see him play for the Red Devils.
While Hojlund is not ready to start this weekend’s clash with Nottingham Forest, he could debut in subsequent games.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of the Forest clash tomorrow, Ten Hag said (via Man United’s official website): “Today, for the first time, he came into team training.
“Next week, we expect him to do a full week with all the team training. So he’s very near to making the squad.”
The Dutchman also delivered updates on injured trio Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malaci, and Mason Mount.
Mount will be out until at least after the September international break, while Shaw will take a few weeks longer to return.
Malacia sustained an injury during United’s pre-season training and still needs a few weeks to be ready.
Marcus Rashford has been leading the line for United but has failed to find the back of the net after two games.
United have not been at their best this season after a promising 2022/23 campaign that saw them lift their first trophy in six years.
They won their opening game against Wolverhampton Wanderers but could have easily walked away with only a point. They lost to Tottenham Hotspur in their second game.
United played Burnley in a behind-closed-door match during the week and lost 3-0.
They will hope to be back to their best when they take on Forest tomorrow, with Ten Hag hoping his side can arrest this slump that could potentially derail their season.
