Jonathan David leaning towards Lille stay as Napoli and Juventus explore move next summer

Serie A giants Napoli and Juventus are looking to sign Lille striker Jonathan David next summer, reports Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

It was widely expected that David could be on the move this summer after attracting interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs.

However, the Ligue 1 outfit’s hefty valuation of €60 million has prevented the Canadian striker from securing a move.

With only a few days left in the transfer window, it looks increasingly likely that David will continue with Les Dogues this season.

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and an unnamed Premier League club have also registered their interest in the Canadian striker.

They plan to acquire him for a reasonable price when he enters the final 12 months of his contract next summer.

Napoli have identified David as a replacement for Victor Osimhen, who they fear they could lose next summer.

The Partenopei have convinced their talismanic striker to stay put at the Diego Maradona Stadium despite an influx of offers from European heavyweights in the summer transfer window.

They have proposed a renewal offer to the Nigerian international, but he hasn’t responded to it yet.

Juve are also in the market for a centre-forward, but their pursuit has been fruitless.

Romelu Lukaku was earmarked as their priority target, but they have failed to make a breakthrough in negotiations with Chelsea.

David has been the subject of intense transfer interest from Tottenham Hotspur in recent times, with the Lilywhites identifying him as Harry Kane’s successor.

The Canadian striker’s impressive scoring run continued as he scored his first goal of the season in the victory over Nantes in Ligue 1 last weekend.
