Arsenal have been handed a massive boost ahead of their London derby showdown against Fulham this Saturday, with Gabriel Jesus spotted in training.
The Brazilian striker looks to be progressing ahead of schedule as he continues his recovery from a concerning knee injury (via football.london).
Jesus picked up the knock last month ahead of the Gunners’ impressive Community Shield victory over Premier League champions Manchester City.
The 26-year-old went under the knife during a minor procedure to rectify a lingering issue, which is believed to be linked with a medial collateral ligament injury he sustained in last year’s World Cup.
However, he is now rapidly closing in on a return to action, which will come as a massive boost to Mikel Arteta, who has missed the Brazilian’s flair in his front line.
Despite being pictured training with the first-team squad earlier today, it is unclear whether he will be available for the clash against Fulham this weekend.
Although the prospect of Jesus making an appearance during the match is understood to be highly unlikely at this stage.
The Brazil international will be closely monitored by Arsenal’s medical team, but there is a slight possibility he could return for the subsequent match against Manchester United.
However, Arteta could decide against rushing him back to action, which means the Gunners supporters may have to wait until after the international break to see their star striker on the pitch.
Jesus scored 11 goals and laid on eight assists across 33 games in all competitions during his debut campaign at the Emirates Stadium, helping the Gunners go toe to toe with Man City for the Premier League title.
While he is yet to feature this season, Arteta’s side have rallied in his absence, picking up six points from their opening two games against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.
