Aston Villa’s Cameron Archer set to join Sheffield United

Aston Villa attacker Cameron Archer is poised to join Sheffield United for £18 million, according to talkSPORT.

Villa have inserted a buyback option into the deal – the same methodology they used when allowing Aaron Ramsey to sign for Burnley yesterday.

United, who lost Iliman Ndiaye to Marseille earlier in the transfer window, are now on the brink of securing Archer’s services as his replacement.

Archer earned his stripes through the ranks at Bodymoor Heath but has also demonstrated his prowess on the international stage.

He was pivotal to England’s Under-21 success at the European Championships this summer.

Archer honed his skills during a loan stint at Solihull Moors in the 2020/21 season, where he netted four goals in 21 appearances.

He made a name for himself at Preston North End, etching his name into the spotlight with seven goals across 20 Championship outings.

Archer went on loan to Middlesbrough last season and helped them to the precipice of promotion with 11 goals and six assists in 23 appearances.

With Premier League football now beckoning, Archer stands on the brink of an exciting chapter in his career.

The move to Bramall Lane provides a platform for the young forward to establish himself in the top flight.
