Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos is keen to remain at the club despite being wanted by Al-Ittihad, according to Fabrice Hawkins.
Marquinhos was named PSG captain following the departure of Thiago Silva in 2020, and the defender has established himself as a key figure in the dressing room.
He recently put pen to paper on a new five-year contract, but that has not deterred Al-Ittihad from registering their interest.
The Saudi Arabian outfit have already snapped up some big names this summer, having acquired the services of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Fabinho.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men remain in the hunt for a big-name addition at the back as they look to defend their league title in the face of increased competition from Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr.
However, they will have to look elsewhere in their search for defensive reinforcement, with Marquinhos currently focused on continuing his time at Parc des Princes.
“I am delighted to sign a contract extension, but also very proud,” Marquinhos was quoted saying by The Athletic back in May after signing a new deal.
“This is a very special moment for me. Paris Saint-Germain has always shown confidence in me, and I also have a lot of confidence in this club.
“I am convinced that we will continue to achieve great things together in the years to come.”
Marquinhos will be looking to rally his teammates after a poor start to the season.
Les Parisiens had to make do with a point in their opening fixture against Lorient before playing out a share of the spoils against Toulouse last time out.
