Fulham have reached out to Juventus to enquire about the possibility of striking an agreement to sign Italian striker Moise Kean, the Evening Standard reports.
The Cottagers are in the market for Aleksandar Mitrovic’s replacement. But finding a successor will be tricky, considering he has been their headline performer since he arrived in 2018.
Barring the 2020/21 season, Mitrovic scored at least ten goals in two of his three top-flight campaigns with Fulham and was also instrumental to their success in the second division.
Fulham need a striker of similar calibre capable of firing them to success in the Premier League, and they have several players on their extensive shortlist.
Kean, who has previously failed to make an impact in the Premier League, has emerged as a likely target.
Once regarded as a generational talent, the 23-year-old’s career has not gone according to script since an ill-advised move to Everton in 2019.
Kean cost Everton £24 million but bagged just four goals and two assists in 39 Premier League games before being shipped out on loan to Paris Saint-Germain the following season.
He netted 13 times for the record-time Ligue 1 champions but subsequently joined Juventus on an initial loan deal.
Since returning to Juventus two years ago, Kean has only scored 14 goals in 84 games, and his numbers offer little encouragement regarding his ability to fire Fulham to success.
That’s assuming the Cottagers formalise their interest in the youngster with an official offer, but they also have Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun on their radar.
The United States International may represent a statement signing for Fulham. However, not only will they have to stump up Arsenal’s £50m asking price, but they will also face competition from capital rivals Chelsea.
Fulham have pulled out of the race to sign Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi as they consider his asking price outrageous.
Their reluctance to match Chelsea’s demands opens the door for other prospective suitors to pounce, with Everton also interested in the Blues outcast.
