Jamal Musiala unavailable for Germany due to hamstring injury

Germany have been dealt an injury blow for the international break as Jamal Musiala has pulled out of the squad due to a hamstring problem, according to Christian Falk.

Having qualified automatically for the 2024 European Championships as hosts, Hansi Flick’s side will not be involved in the qualifying campaign

They are scheduled to take on Peru in a friendly on March 25, before facing off against Belgium three days later.

With 15 goals and 11 assists in his 35 appearances this term, Musiala was deservedly one of the 24 players to have been called up by Germany.

However, the attacker will now have to watch his international colleagues from the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in his second-half cameo at Bayern Munich’s 2-1 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen yesterday.

Despite showing no signs of discomfort in the aforementioned game, Musiala is now confirmed to have suffered an injury blow.

Musiala’s absence opens the door to a potential return for Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller after the Bayern duo were left of Die Mannschaft’s original squad.

While a timetable for Musiala’s return is yet to be set, Bayern will hope that their 20-year-old prodigy returns to action sooner rather than later.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side currently trail Borussia Dortmund by a point at the top of the Bundesliga table with just nine games left to play – one of them being a crunch Der Klassiker just after the international break.

Bayern have also been drawn against Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, while a DFB-Pokal clash with Freiburg also awaits.

Ahead of what is set to be an enthralling end to the season at the Allianz Arena, getting Musiala back to fitness in ample time could go a long way in deciding how successful Bayern will end the current campaign.
