Manchester City eye surprise move for Dani Olmo as De Bruyne replacement

Manchester City are considering a move for RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo, claims Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

An unfortunate hamstring injury to star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has forced Man City to dip their toes in the transfer market for a new attacking midfielder.

Olmo has emerged as a potential target, but the Bundesliga giants are reluctant to sell him.

The Spaniard recently dominated the headlines following his stellar hat-trick against Bayern Munich in the DFL Supercup.

Olmo penned a new deal with Die Roten Bullen at the start of this month, but his heroics against Bayern have caught the attention of Premier League Champions.

Leipzig are unwilling to sell the former Dinamo Zagreb star as they consider him integral to their plans, but Man City are planning to test the waters by making an offer.

They are unlikely to meet Leipzig’s €80 million asking price, which will scupper their hopes of signing him.

They are focused on a deal for West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta, while Rennes forward Jeremy Doku is another target.

Doku and Paqueta have given their green light for a move to the Etihad Stadium, and City are working towards finalising agreements with their respective clubs.

Aymeric Laporte is nearing the exit door at the Etihad Stadium, having accepted the proposal from Saudi giants Al-Nassr.

Man City are off to a flying start to the new season after thrashing Burnley 3-0 in their Premier League opener.

They are set to face Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup final tonight.
