Manchester City accept Al-Nassr’s offer for Aymeric Laporte

Aymeric Laporte is set to join Al-Nassr after their bid to sign the defender was accepted by Manchester City.

The Athletic’s David Ornstein says the player is open to the possibility of moving to the Middle East.

The Spain international still has two years left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, but the Cityzens are willing to sell him in this transfer window

Laporte missed the first two months of the 2022-23 season due to knee surgery. Following his recovery, he struggled to feature regularly for Pep Guardiola’s side.

The 29-year-old started only 11 Premier League matches and played in just four Champions League games.

His first-team chances received a further blow after City paid €90 million to sign Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig

The former Athletic Bilbao star now appears to be heading to the Saudi Pro League, which has attracted some of the biggest names in football this summer.

Since landing Cristiano Ronaldo on a free transfer last December, Al-Nassr have been even more ambitious this summer.

They have completed transfers for ex-Liverpool star Sadio Mane and Croatia international Marcelo Brozovic.

And now they look on the verge of wrapping up a deal for Laporte, who boasts plenty of experience at the top level.

The 29-year-old’s arrival would be a massive boost to their hopes of winning the Saudi Pro League title this season.
