Lionel Messi scores long-range stunner to fire Inter Miami into Leagues Cup final

Lionel Messi stole the headlines once again as he smashed in a stunning long-range goal to fire Inter Miami into the Leagues Cup final.

The Argentine has been absolutely unstoppable since making the switch to Major League Soccer following the expiration of his contract at Paris Saint-Germain

He scored in his sixth consecutive game for Miami on Tuesday night as they comfortably defeated Philadelphia Union 4-1 at Subaru Park.

Josef Martinez opened the scoring within the first three minutes after Serhiy Kryvtsov set him up with a good pass.

Messi then popped up with a stunning long-range goal before Jordi Alba’s cool finish extended their advantage to 3-0 on the stroke of half-time.

Philadelphia squandered several brilliant goalscoring opportunities before substitute Alejandro Bedoya reduced the deficit in the 73rd minute.

But David Ruiz added another to cap off a superb 4-1 victory for the Herons, who will now face Nashville in the final on Sunday.

Messi’s arrival has completely shifted the mood at Miami who were struggling to perform a month ago.

They are on a six-game winning streak and will play in the Leagues Cup final against Nashville.

The Argentine scored the injury-time winner on his debut before scoring braces against Atlanta United, Orlando City and FC Dallas.

He also provided vital contributions in Miami’s victories over Charlotte and Philadelphia in the quarter-final and semi-final matches of the tournament.
