Fulham faced with fresh competition in Callum Hudson-Odoi pursuit

Fulham have been joined by an unnamed Premier League club in the race to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea, according to Sky Sports.

Hudson-Odoi is expected to join the mass exodus from Stamford Bridge before the transfer deadline on September 1, having entered the final year of his contract.

The 22-year-old, who rose through the ranks at Chelsea in the 2017-18 campaign, has struggled for both form and fitness over the last couple of seasons.

Hudson-Odoi was sent on loan to Bayer Leverkusen last term but failed to make an impact, managing just one goal and one assist in his 21 appearances across all competitions.

It was no surprise that the Bundesliga outfit opted against a permanent move.

Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Fulham have all been linked with a move for Hudson-Odoi this summer, but Fulham are currently at the front of the queue to land the Englishman.

However, the Cottagers will now have to withstand further competition in their quest to sign him before the end of the transfer window.

Fulham have been fairly active in the market, completing deals for Calvin Bassey, Raul Jimenez and Adama Traore.

They remain in the market for more attacking reinforcements, especially with Aleksandar Mitrovic likely to leave the club amid interest from Al-Hilal.

Fulham kicked off their league campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Everton courtesy of Bobby Decordova-Reid’s second-half strike at Goodison Park.

Marco Silva’s men are next in action on Saturday when they play host to city rivals Brentford in the first of three consecutive London derbies.
