Chelsea target Elye Wahi prefers a move to West Ham United

Chelsea could miss out on striker target Elye Wahi as the Montpellier youngster prefers a move to West Ham United, claims Foot Mercato.

The Blues appeared to be the front-runners to sign the French youngster after making an offer despite competition from Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur and Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, Wahi is reluctant to make a switch to Stamford Bridge and wants to move to West Ham.

This could be down to Chelsea’s plan to send the 20-year-old to their sister club Strasbourg on loan.

Wahi has informed his current employers of his desire to move to London Stadium while the Hammers are planning to submit an offer worth around €35 million.

David Moyes is on the lookout for a new centre-forward after losing Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta, while Michail Antonio has been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wahi put himself on the map following a sensational campaign last term, where he racked up 19 goals and five assists in Ligue 1.

The Hammers continue to turn heads with their ambitious transfer targets as Moyes aims to build a strong squad capable of competing on all fronts.

They have sold Declan Rice to Arsenal for a record fee, but they have reinvested in Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse.

West Ham are set for another windfall as Lucas Paqueta has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League champions Manchester City.

They have identified Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus and Jeremy Doku of Rennes as other potential targets, although the latter is also wanted by Man City.
