Inter Milan have initiated contact with Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic ahead of a potential move this summer, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Nerazzurri have accelerated their search for a new centre-forward with a little less than a month left in the transfer window.
After missing out on Romelu Lukaku and Gianluca Scamacca, Inter have lined up a handful of names as potential targets.
Despite boasting Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez, Simone Inzaghi aims to sign another centre forward due to the uncertain future of Joaquin Correa.
Arnautovic is among the desired candidates, with reports claiming Inter have submitted an offer worth around €3 million plus bonuses.
The Austrian is keen on securing a move to a top club, and his agent Daniel Arnautovic has revealed that a proposal from an unnamed club is on the table.
However, Inter are not alone in the race to sign their former player, as fellow Italian rivals AS Roma are also competing for his signature.
Giallorossi are also in the market for a centre-forward as Jose Mourinho is determined to land a short-term replacement for injured Tammy Abraham.
Mourinho values Arnautovic’s experience after previously working with him at Inter.
Inter have the edge over the Italian capital giants as they can offer him Champions League football.
Inzaghi has a soft spot for seasoned players, as was evident with Edin Dzeko, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Francesco Acerbi being key figures under his reign.
Arnautovic has made a significant impact at Bologna since his move in 2021, netting 25 goals in 57 appearances for the club.
The most capped player of the Austrian national team has shown he still has a lot left in the tank and can operate at the highest level for a few more years.
Porto’s Mehdi Taremi and Folarin Balogun of Arsenal are also on Inter’s radar.
