Fenerbahce have ramped up their interest in out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder Fred.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the Super Lig giants have launched an official proposal worth around €15 million plus add-ons to sign the Brazilian.
Negotiations are ongoing between both clubs, while Fenerbahce are also trying to agree personal terms with the player.
Fred has been a faithful servant at Old Trafford since joining from Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018.
He cost Man United around £47 million but has more than proven to be a solid recruit after amassing over 200 appearances, contributing 14 goals and 19 assists.
The 30-year-old is versatile enough to play several roles in the middle of the park, and his tenacity and ball-winning ability are the highlights of his game.
However, with Erik ten Hag overseeing a wave of change at the Theatre of Dreams, Fred is one of several players set to make way for new recruits this summer.
The Brazil international midfielder has just one year left on his contract with Man United, and they are willing to cut ties with him to fund their recruitment drive.
Fred was a key player for Ten Hag last season, making 56 appearances across all competitions while bagging six goals and six assists.
However, Mason Mount’s arrival will push him further down the pecking order, and a move to Turkey could benefit his career.
Fred has several clubs queuing up to land his signature, including Fulham, Lazio and Juventus, but Fenerbahce are ahead in the race and eager to finalise the transfer quickly.
Man United plan to use the proceeds from Fred’s imminent departure to fund a move for long-term midfield target Sofyan Amrabat.
They will switch their attention to the Moroccan midfielder once they have raised enough funds from outgoing deals.
