Al-Hilal targeting swoop for Neymar

Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal are eyeing a swoop for Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar, according to CBS Sports.

The 18-time league champions are believed to have sent a delegation on Friday to lay the groundwork for a deal.

Neymar will reportedly earn a whopping annual salary of around €200 million, while a transfer fee of €45m is also being mooted.

The 31-year-old’s potential new employers have already seen him in live action during a friendly between PSG and a joint starting XI of Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal back in January.

Neymar set up Lionel Messi’s opener in the aforementioned game before missing a late first-half penalty shortly after which Cristiano Ronaldo made it 2-2 heading into the interval.

While Neymar wants to finish his career at PSG, he could finally be set for a move from Parc des Princes having been continuously linked with an exit over the last couple of transfer windows.

Since joining PSG in 2017, Neymar’s time in the French capital has been injury-plagued and it would be no surprise to see the Ligue 1 champions decide to part ways with their record signing this summer as they target a rebuild.

Having failed in their pursuit of Lionel Messi who opted to sign for Major League Soccer club Inter Miami, Al-Hilal have wasted no time identifying their next big-name target in Neymar.

His arrival in Saudi Arabia would continue the recent exodus of top European stars to the Middle East, which was kickstarted by Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr.

Current Ballon d’Or holder Karim Benzema recently completed a move to Al-Ittihad and is set to be joined by Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.

Riyad Mahrez could also be heading to Saudi Arabia off the back of last night’s Champions League triumph, with the Algerian winger attracting interest from Al-Ahli.
