Joe Rodon will join Leeds on loan from Tottenham

Leeds United have agreed a loan deal for Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon, according to the Telegraph.

The move comes as Leeds United chase promotion back to the Premier League, and the Welsh international could play a crucial role in their bid to conquer the Championship.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke wants to fortify his defence for the upcoming campaign and identified Rodon as a target.

They have also expressed interest in securing the services of Liverpool’s Nat Phillips.

This interest in signing a new centre-back has taken on a new urgency following an injury to Liam Cooper.

The Leeds captain will be out of action for up to eight weeks following a foot injury sustained during their 2-2 draw against Cardiff City on Sunday.

After slipping down the pecking order at Spurs, Rodon is eager to play first-team football.

Rodon progressed through Swansea City’s academy before making his senior team debut in 2015.

He made 54 appearances for the Welsh club before joining Spurs in 2020.

Rodon earned his first call-up for Wales in 2019 and has collected 36 caps.

After struggling to nail down a starting spot under Antonio Conte last season, Rodon went on loan to Ligue 1 outfit Rennes.

He did not convince them to make the move permanent, making just 16 appearances.

Rodon will be their fourth senior team signing after Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea, Karl Darlow from Newcastle United and Sam Bryam for free after he left Norwich City.
