French news outlet L’Equipe published a report today claiming Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has expressed a desire to leave the club this summer.
However, the Brazilian’s father and agent has vehemently denied rumours linking the controversial 31-year-old forward with a move away from Parc des Princes.
This is not the first time Neymar has been linked with a PSG departure. The former Santos prodigy has a strained relationship with the board, who were desperate to get him off their books last summer.
However, the Brazilian remained at the French capital. In typical Neymar fashion, he dazzled fans and neutrals alike, racking up 13 goals and 11 assists in 20 Ligue 1 appearances.
The former Barcelona man then suffered a horrific ankle injury that required surgery. But he has since bounced back from the setback – evidenced by his performance in PSG’s final pre-season fixture.
Rumours have since resurfaced that the Brazilian has handed in a transfer request to force a return to Barca this summer.
However, when asked to confirm the report from the French publication, Neymar’s agent said (via PL Brasil): “I can’t confirm the news that didn’t happen. L’Equipe being L’Efake.”
Neymar still has two years left on his contract with PSG and takes home €30 million annually.
While he has constantly been linked with an exit from the French capital, the forward has never pushed for a move and will likely remain at the club beyond this summer.
Despite reports claiming he wants a return to Spotify Camp Nou, the mesmerising winger is not considered a viable target by the cash-strapped Spanish giants.
Even if they somehow forked out an acceptable transfer fee, they would still require Neymar to take a substantial pay cut to facilitate the switch.
Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Neymar. If reports are to be believed, the Premier League giants have re-opened talks with the player’s camp over a potential transfer.
