Man City join PSG in race for Lyon youngster Bradley Barcola

Manchester City’s search for a new winger has landed them on the doorstep of Olympique Lyonnais youngster Bradley Barcola.

According to French news outlet RMC Sport, the treble winners are interested in the 20-year-old sensation but will have to battle Paris Saint-Germain to secure his services.

The Ligue 1 champions are considered front-runners to sign Barcola, who has emerged as one of the most promising youngsters in France.

The forward progressed through the academy ranks at Lyon before establishing himself in the first team during the second half of last season.

Barcola contributed five goals and nine assists in 26 Ligue 1 appearances, helping Laurent Blanc’s side secure a seventh-place finish.

His performances have caught the eye of several high-profile European clubs, including French champions PSG, who are determined to sign him this summer.

PSG boss Luis Enrique has spoken with the Frenchman over a potential transfer, with the Spanish tactician keen to work with him at Parc des Princes.

Les Parisiens are locked in negotiations with Lyon for the youngster, although Lyon are reluctant to part ways with the France under-21 international forward.

PSG have reportedly tabled a €30 million plus bonuses proposal for Barcola, but Lyon are holding out for around €50m.

The difference in valuation between the clubs could prompt Man City to try and hijack the transfer as they continue their search for a new forward.

The Cityzens have lost Riyad Mahrez to the Saudi Pro League this summer, and Pep Guardiola wants to bolster his attacking options with a new winger.

They have been linked with moves for Atletico Madrid winger Rodrigo Riquelme and Barcelona forward Raphinha. Barcola is the latest name on Man City’s shortlist.

The Premier League champions could lose Bernardo Silva amid interest from Barca, PSG and Al-Hilal.

His preferred destination would be Barca, but with no offers from the Spanish champions, the Portuguese forward has decided to remain at the Etihad Stadium.
