Serie A champions Napoli are poised to make an offer for Atalanta’s midfield maestro Teun Koopmeiners, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Napoli have been admiring Koopmeiners from a distance and are ready to move for him soon.
Koopmeiners joined Atalanta in 2021 from AZ Alkmaar after impressing in their first team following his breakout from their youth ranks.
The 25-year-old notched four goals and one assist in 30 Serie A appearances in his first season. He bagged ten goals and four assists last term.
The Partenopei want to submit a convincing offer to Atalanta to sign the Dutch international midfielder.
His name has been on Napoli’s radar for quite some time, but recent developments have propelled him to the top of their transfer wish list.
Amid uncertainty surrounding Piotr Zielinski’s future, Koopmeiners’ potential arrival has gained even more traction.
The midfielder’s talent and versatility have drawn admirers across Europe. He is viewed as an ideal candidate to bolster Napoli’s squad.
Napoli head coach Rudi Garcia is reportedly a vocal proponent of the move. He recognises the invaluable addition Koopmeiners could be to the team’s already potent midfield unit.
His vision, passing ability and leadership qualities would bolster Napoli’s chances of defending their Serie A crown.
The allure of playing in the Champions League and challenging for the Scudetto has piqued the Dutchman’s interest.
They are willing to invest over €30 million in securing Koopmeiners’ services.
Atalanta generally drive a hard bargain in the transfer market and are unlikely to sell the player cheaply this summer.
