Luis Enrique’s camp denies rumours of quitting PSG

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has been the subject of rumours linking him with a shock exit just a month after his arrival.

The Spaniard has reportedly become disappointed with the turmoil at the French club, dominated by Kylian Mbappe’s transfer saga.

Another reason is speculation around footballing advisor Luis Campos’ future at Parc des Princes.

Campos’ job is at stake after falling out with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi over Mbappe’s saga.

The Portuguese sporting director has been held responsible for Mbappe’s decision to decline the club’s extension offer.

Campos and Al-Khelaifi were at odds over the exclusion of the French forward from the pre-season squad.

With those events taking the spotlight this summer, Enrique has been prevented from making a smooth transition at the capital club.

The former Barcelona boss has grown weary over PSG’s stance on Campos, with whom he has been working closely on squad planning.

However, Enrique and PSG’s camp have called the rumours fake, as relayed by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Les Parisiens have also played down the exit rumours surrounding Campos.

Although Mbappe’s future lies away from the Parc des Princes, PSG have done excellent business in the transfer window to offset his absence.

Ousmane Dembele has agreed a move from Barcelona to Parc des Princes, while PSG have sealed a deal worth €80 million for Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos.

They will join the long list of new signings made this summer after Lee Kang-in, Milan Skriniar, Manuel Ugarte, Marco Asensio, Cher Ndour and Lucas Hernandez.

After a series of underwhelming results, PSG capped off their Asian tour with a 3-0 win over Jeonbuk, with Neymar scoring a double.

They will face Lorient in their opening game of the Ligue 1 on August 13.
