Liverpool contact Fluminense over midfielder Andre

Liverpool have contacted Fluminense over midfielder Andre Trindade, according to Sky Sports.

Their interest in the 22-year-old intensified following the departure of Fabinho to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad.

However, Sporting CP also keen on adding Andre’s tenacity to their ranks following the departure of Manuel Ugarte.

Fluminense have slapped a €25 million price tag on the young midfielder, who they see as a pivotal asset for their team.

Having already amassed over 100 appearances in various competitions since his senior debut in 2020, Andre has proven his mettle as an integral part of Fluminense’s midfield.

His combative nature on the pitch is evident, as evidenced by his six yellows and one red card in just 14 matches this year.

However, such tenacity also contributed to his recognition, and he earned a call-up to a depleted Brazil squad for their recent friendlies.

In a 4-2 defeat against Senegal, Andre made his senior debut as a substitute, replacing West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta.

Andre plays in front of the defence and excels at breaking up opposition attacks. His dynamic style and excellent technique make him a well-rounded asset.

Liverpool are still in the race for Southampton defensive midfielder Romeo Lavia despite having their latest £41m offer rejected. The Championship club wants £50m.

The Reds have brought in two new midfielders this summer – Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.

However, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita have exited the club, while Jordan Henderson and Fabinho recently moved to the Saudi Pro League.
