Barcelona rekindle their interest in Felix as PSG close in on Dembele transfer

Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele looks very close to joining Paris Saint-Germain.

The Catalans believed the 26-year-old wanted to sign a new contract with his current deal expiring in 2024.

But he has reportedly performed a U-turn by agreeing to move to the French capital this summer

With the Frenchman set to leave, Barca are looking to sign a replacement for him.

According to SPORT, Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix is one of the favourites to replace Dembele.

Given Barca’s financial issues, they will likely be looking to secure a loan deal with a purchase option included.

Felix started his career at Benfica before joining Atletico in a club-record £113 million deal in 2019.

But the 23-year-old failed to live up to his enormous potential at the Metropolitano Stadium, scoring 34 goals in 131 appearances across all competitions.

Manager Diego Simeone sparingly used the Portuguese during the first half of last season before sending him on loan to Chelsea

His performances were unconvincing as he hit the back of the net just four times in 20 matches.

The Blues subsequently decided against making Felix’s loan move permanent.

He doesn’t want to spend another season with Atletico and is eager to join Barca.

However, it is unclear whether the two clubs will reach an agreement over a move for him.
